Each year we send numerous Travel Nurses on contract throughout Manitoba, and the stories they share motivate other nurses to participate in these adventures. It’s a province with a lot to offer, whether you’re an urban dweller or prefer the great outdoors. There is no shortage of things to do! For food enthusiasts, art lovers, sports fans, and museum observers, — Manitoba NEEDS to be the next stop on your bucket list.
If you’re an ICU RN, we currently have Travel Nursing contracts in Manitoba starting now for the next 6-months! You can secure your pay cheque for half the year, all while checking things off your ‘must-see list’ — then hitting a new destination for summer!
What do perogies, ballet dancers, hockey players, and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights have in common? You can find them all in Winnipeg!
Winnipeg is a must-see as it’s full of excitement — and crazy hockey fans! Catch a Jets game at the Local Pint Public House and absorb the energetic atmosphere – they are known for hosting fanatical Jets Games! Next, for our art lovers, we recommend the Manitoba Children’s Museum, it’s not just for kids! For those looking to change their scenery and meet new friends, grab a craft beer and hot plate of perogies with a colleague at The Forks market, it’s the perfect place for a “memorable hangout.” Outside of The forks, there’s tons to eat and drink, as Winnipeg has a vibrant food & beverage scene – perfect for foodies! From vegan cuisine, breweries, French food, Japanese dishes, West Indian curry, and more.
On top of that, Winnipeg boasts an incredible array of cultural experiences, a strong arts scene, and a wordly focus. The Royal Winnipeg Ballet has been hailed as one of the country’s best dance academies, with classics such as Romeo & Juliet and The Wizard of Oz schedule this year, as well as modern performances. The Canadian Museum for Human Rights will take you on a journey of education and inspiration unlike anything you’ve experienced before as you encounter 150 years of our country’s human rights history.
While working in Winnipeg, you NEED to explore Riding Mountain National Park. Located only 2.5 hours northwest of Winnipeg, this park offers such great hiking trails and campgrounds; one of our nurses renewed her contract in Manitoba for more than a year to take full advantage of it! Find your new favourite spot and snap some photos to send to your friends and family.
Outside of the province’s urban centre, you can explore lesser-known cities such as Carman, Churchill, Gimli and Dauphin, which all have their own unique offerings. From an Oasis on the Prairies in Carman; Polar Bear Capital of the World in Churchill (check out details on how you can get here!); the Heart of New Iceland in Gimli; to the City of Sunshine in Dauphin — these destinations offer cool day trips or multi-day getaways.
Manitoba also boasts over 110,000 stunning lakes, making it an outstanding fishing destination. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced fisher, Manitoba is one of the best places for a fishing expedition. You can even book a Northern Safari to kayak alongside beluga whales and observe see polar bears in their natural habitat! With 92 provincial parks to explore, you’ll have lush boreal forests, prairie parklands, and intriguing historic sites within arm’s reach.
